Le travail rassemble une somme d'informations sur les aspects visibles et invisibles de la collection et indirectement de la culture balinaise telle que retenue par Margaret Mead. Une partie de ce projet, soit la conversion de films 16mm (préalablement numérisés) sur des pellicules holographiques, a été effectuée à l'École supérieure des arts et médias de Cologne en août et septembre 1997 où je fus l'artiste invitée. Ces hologrammes volontairement effacés suscitent chez le spectateur une curiosité accrue par l'impossibilité d'immobiliser l'image et les sons qui lui échappent.

This work gathers a host of information on the visible and invisible aspects of Balinese culture as studied by Margaret Mead. A part of this project, converting video images onto holographic film, was carried out at the Academy of Media Arts (Cologne) where I was an invited artist in August and September of 1997. When erased voluntarily, the holograms stimulate the spectator’s sense of curiosity heightened by the impossible task of immobilizing the image that is always out of reach. The images, at once elusive and fleeting, echo the music that is composed by the movement of the public. The perception of interplay in this work is set against the premise that we lose sight and hearing of what appears to be far away.
